DEDICATION OF NEW SERVICE CENTER

Volunteers, civic leaders and neighbors celebrated ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Kansas City's new service center in an Open House and Dedication on Wednesday, March 7, 2002. The service center is located at 6101 N. Chestnut in Kansas City, just off Brooktree Lane and across from the Antioch Branch of the Mid-Continent Library.

After an intense three-year capital campaign raising more than $600,000, volunteers worked closely with the architect and builder to construct the new 5,100-square-foot building. The service center provides much-needed space to meet the increasing demand for ASSISTANCE LEAGUE's community programs.

Haren Laughlin Construction was general contractor for the new building. Jeff Shrader of Sharhag and Associates in North Kansas City was the architect.

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Kansas City has long felt the urgency to expand programs to the community. Programs such as OPERATION SCHOOL BELL® and OPERATION FOSTER CHILDREN provide much-needed new clothing and materials to local children. Record numbers of families are benefiting from these programs, and the new facility allows for greater service to reach even more children and families in need.

The new distribution center is now a reality thanks to all of you.
